The Internet as we all know it today wouldn’t have existed without the HTTP protocol. It is the heart and soul that pumps content to all of us. It makes it possible for us to read the latest news, order stuff online, watch videos on YouTube and get to our favourite websites on all types of devices – workstations with 27-inch displays, laptops, mobile phones, tablets and even e-readers that offer browsing capabilities. Sadly, that protocol has not been changed since 1999 when version 1.1 was released so, when HTTP/2 was released earlier this year, it was a source of major excitement. Of course, the SiteGround team has immediately started working on it and we are now happy to announce that all our shared and cloud servers support HTTP/2.

Most of our clients know that here at SiteGround we tend to upgrade our hardware quite often. We aim to ensure that all our clients’ sites run on the latest and fastest hardware on the market and when we spot a valuable new piece of hardware, we immediately start testing. This year again, we are getting ready to migrate all of our shared hosting servers to new supercharged monster servers. Unlike other times though, this time we’ll not only upgrade the hardware, but also the whole infrastructure of our shared hosting platform.

HHVM has significantly changed the way PHP sites are optimized for performance. Right now it is probably the fastest stable execution engine for PHP scripts. However, with PHP 7 on the horizon things may change and HHVM may face a serious competitor as according to some benchmarking tests and those disclosed by Zend, PHP 7 is much faster than HHVM.
Important: Even though it’s stable, PHP 7.0 is still in beta and it’s not recommended that you use it on live websites. In addition, it does not yet have Memcache support which means that if you want to use the SuperCacher and PHP7, you need to disable the Memcache option from the plugin backend before switching to PHP7.

The Drupal Demo installation comes with a fancy responsive theme, designed by SiteGround and free to use by all SiteGround clients, as well as a few modules on top of the default installation. The theme, created by our design team, works great with the Panels module for Drupal. It allows you to easily create and modify your layouts and reorganize content simply using its drag-and-drop functionality.
Simply log in to your new Drupal demo, open the page you want to edit and click on the Customize this Page link that will appear at the bottom. Once you do that, you will be able to move the different elements of the page and show them in the best possible way for your needs!
You can easily manage your Drupal through its fully-featured admin panel, or use the hosting account extras such as FTP, SSH and Drush (the powerful and super useful command-line interface designed especially for Drupal and pre-installed on your SiteGround hosting account). With those tools in hand, you can easily add, remove and modify your content.
The great thing about this demo is that it’s absolutely free for 7 days. No credit card is required for the sign-up process. If you want to keep your Drupal site after the demo period is over, you can easily keep all your work by renewing your hosting account from your User area.

Having access to detailed statistics about your account usage makes it way easier to troubleshoot any issues you may have, pinpoint parts of your website that slow it down, or check whether your site is getting popular instead of getting spammed.
