Last weekend was all about WordCamp Europe! The city of Leiden in the Netherlands got shaken up by the WordPress people. The first and biggest WordPress European event was something to remember as there were lots of great stories told, new things learned, friendships made, and it was all topped up by the wildest event after party I have seen recently. So if you were not there you definitely missed a lot!
After a short summer break our educational webinar initiative continues with WordPress! Yesterday we hosted our first WordPress webinar about WordPress security with Brad Williams and Brian Messenlehner from WebDevStudios. We had a really good crowd of attendees and a great discussion at the end.

Ahoy, mateys! After spending three days with my new co-workers at the beach (hence the sailor speak), I am making my debut on the company blog, to share what it is like to get started at SiteGround. A boatful of new crew members has recently joined the company. More than 15 people, with me being one of them, have been recently hired by SiteGround to enlarge the customer service team and the marketing department. And before you got the wrong idea, our training was not held on the beach and was a little longer than three days. However, it was followed by the annual SG team building, which was a great finish to our initiation.
Brace yourself, Europe! In October the SiteGround crew is coming for the biggest WordPress conference on the old continent – WordCamp Europe! We just got back from a long and utterly exciting journey to San Francisco for the biggest WordCamp of the year – WordCamp San Francisco. We proudly sponsored the conference for a second consecutive year and to say that we had a blast will be an understatement! There were more than 600 people attending, and I had the feeling we spoke to almost all of them, amazing line-up of speakers and sessions, including Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word, and the Contribute day that made this event especially valuable for me personally.

We are in a full-blown testing mode in the office. Our new website will be here very, very soon. While waiting, take a look at the three videos that will be part of the new SiteGround home page. They will explain a lot about SiteGround approach to web hosting and how we make your website safer, faster and better supported. But what is even more important, they will make you feel the real magic of our handmade philosophy.
Our main challenge with the new website was to tell some highly technological stories in an understandable and human way. Using videos seemed a logical choice, as it would allow us to add action and emotion and thus make the visitors’ perception easier. The temptation to go for an easy and fast computer-generated animation was huge. But when the advertising agency offered to make a series of stop-motion movies instead, with all characters made of paper, I just felt the click. It was such a great match with the handmade philosophy that inspired the whole site re-design.
At that point I didn’t know that filming each of the three 1-minute long movies will take from 12 to 16 hours non-stop shootage, neither that I will have to craft some of the characters from postit notes on the spot, nor that the whole thing will be so much fun! Now that the SiteGround stop-motion movie-making adventure is over it is time to reveal the end-result to the world. Hope you like them as much as we do!

During the last few months we have been working on an epic production, which will soon be released. The world premiere of our new website design will heat up the summer season. And this time it is not about impressing the audience with visual effects only. This time our website will tell a great story. The story is about how we do things that others never considered possible, and how we create a new and better shared hosting world for your website.

It’s been a while since we presented a customer in our blog! I am happy to introduce now Web Pepper, one of our big resellers and active FaceBook fans. He has shared some cool stories about how he got inspired by the Computer world, how he has chosen to work with WordPress and what was his experience with SiteGround.
I am extremely happy to report that our first webinar about Joomla speed was a great success – we had a very big crowd of people showing up, loads of questions in the end, and excellent feedback from our attendees!
