We’re happy to announce that SiteGround is now one of the few companies selected by the Drupal Association to provide a hosted Drupal Demo! We’ve created a special free Drupal demo, that allows you to check out the great features in the application in a real hosting environment. Read more to find out what this demo has to offer and what we’ve done to make it work nicely and smoothly for you.
The Drupal Demo gives you fast and easy access to all the features of the Drupal CMS. Just fill in the short signup form, and you are ready to go. Once you press the big blue Start Demo button, you will get a fully-functional Drupal pre-installed on your account that you can modify, add your content, install modules and themes, and basically use the full power of the application.
The Drupal Demo installation comes with a fancy responsive theme, designed by SiteGround and free to use by all SiteGround clients, as well as a few modules on top of the default installation. The theme, created by our design team, works great with the Panels module for Drupal. It allows you to easily create and modify your layouts and reorganize content simply using its drag-and-drop functionality.
Simply log in to your new Drupal demo, open the page you want to edit and click on the Customize this Page link that will appear at the bottom. Once you do that, you will be able to move the different elements of the page and show them in the best possible way for your needs!
You can easily manage your Drupal through its fully-featured admin panel, or use the hosting account extras such as FTP, SSH and Drush (the powerful and super useful command-line interface designed especially for Drupal and pre-installed on your SiteGround hosting account). With those tools in hand, you can easily add, remove and modify your content.
The great thing about this demo is that it’s absolutely free for 7 days. No credit card is required for the sign-up process. If you want to keep your Drupal site after the demo period is over, you can easily keep all your work by renewing your hosting account from your User area.

SiteGround has been sponsoring and attending lots of community events over the last few years. However, it was more likely to meet us at a WordCamp or a JoomlaDay, than at a Drupal event. So it may have come as a surprise to some people to see us at DrupalCon LA but there was a good reason for us to be there – the growing number of Drupal users we have.

We are happy to announce the Bulgaria PHP Conference, which will take place in Sofia on September 25-27, 2015. The event will bring together some of the most prominent PHP community members from all over the world and will offer a great selection of speakers and sessions (all of them in English). We are also proud that the organization of the event will be completely carried out by the SiteGround team.

Last year our team worked very hard on developing a new cloud platform based on Linux containers. We saw a great potential in this technology, as it was much more efficient, faster and easily scalable than the traditional virtualization methods. Today, we are happy to announce the official launch of this technology for the SiteGround cloud accounts.

I spent last week in Brighton (UK), attending the Reasons To Be Creative conference, which SiteGround sponsored. Right from the beginning of the event I started hearing the word “stoked” (completely and intensely enthusiastic, exhilarated, or excited about something, according to the Urban Dictionary) unusually often. I heard it repeatedly used not only by John Davey (the great guy organizing the event), but also by many of the attendees. By the end of the event I already knew how it felt like to be stoked myself.

As any other marketing channel, affiliate marketing has its tips and tricks, and it takes know-how and experience to be good at it. That is why Missy Ward and Shawn Collins have undertaken the difficult task of helping affiliates and merchants share knowledge and find new business opportunities by organizing the Affiliate Summit conference that happens twice a year – on the East and on the West coast of the USA. The most recent Affiliate Summit just happened in New York, from August 10th to August 12th, and our team was quite excited to attend it. This year in New York, the learning focus was on how to maintain an affiliate website and get traffic to it.

You’ve probably heard that before, but here at SiteGround, we love Open Source. Our hosting platform is built on open source software, we host more than 150 different open source apps, and we sponsor various open source events and communities. Yet, this was our first time we sponsored OSCON – the biggest conference about everything open source, that happened in Portland last week.

After the success of our first Open Bar initiative in Orlando last year, last week Tina, Daniel and I hosted the second SiteGround Open Bar in London. We were incredibly happy to see all the people that showed up to chat and have a drink with us. The fact that so many of you said that our support is second to none definitely made our evening and we got back home happy and more motivated to work even harder to keep that same level of highest quality of service. Besides the motivational boost, this event also made us think how to improve the client meetups.

Going to WordCamps is really great. Mainly because, no matter if you are just going to build your first personal blog, or you are part of a multinational business built around WordPress, you are sure to meet people that are up to the same challenges as you and are willing to share their experience. Visiting even a single session can be very beneficial, but if you go beyond just listening you will be amazed how much more you can learn. Looking over WordCamp Phoenix, we sponsored and visited last weekend, I can say it was a great example for the different ways you can benefit from such an event.
