During the last year few university professors, who use SiteGround web hosting for their personal projects, approached us with a similar issue: they were not happy with the generic hosting solutions provided by their academic institutions and they preferred to reveal the secrets of the web to their students using SiteGround hosting instead. Of course the main bummer was the fact that the standard hosting fees were not very suitable for most of the students. So we started to work on a special Student hosting program to help the future stars of the internet get started easily without extra budget required. Who updates your WordPress?

This question is getting quite tricky recently. Now that a native autoupdater is included in the WordPress itself (it is one of the major new features in WordPress 3.7, that was released last week), will you ever again be required to click manually on the upgrade link in the WordPress admin? What will happen with the SiteGround WordPress auto updater? And after all, is it you, is it SiteGround or is it WordPress itself that is going to be responsible for the updates? Well, to answer this question we were once again led by our principle: we make sure that the majority of our customers get the best option by default, but we allow the freedom to anyone to change the setup to whatever suits him/her best.

GIT Version Control Now Available!

One of my favourite SiteGround projects that kept some of us quite busy recently is now successfully rolled out! I am very happy to tell you that we have integrated Git in our hosting service. It is the newest addition to the multiple state-of-the-art tools (like WordPress/Joomla Staging tool, WP-CLI, Drush CLI for Drupal sites, etc.) that we have created to make your website management easier. Staying true to our craftsmanship approach, we have developed our custom Git cPanel plugin which fully supports the most popular web applications – WordPress, Joomla!, Magento, PrestaShop and Drupal.

WordCamp Europe – what did you miss?

Last weekend was all about WordCamp Europe! The city of Leiden in the Netherlands got shaken up by the WordPress people. The first and biggest WordPress European event was something to remember as there were lots of great stories told, new things learned, friendships made, and it was all topped up by the wildest event after party I have seen recently. Getting Aboard the SiteGround Ship!

Ahoy, mateys! After spending three days with my new co-workers at the beach (hence the sailor speak), I am making my debut on the company blog, to share what it is like to get started at SiteGround. A boatful of new crew members has recently joined the company. More than 15 people, with me being one of them, have been recently hired by SiteGround to enlarge the customer service team and the marketing department. And before you got the wrong idea, our training was not held on the beach and was a little longer than three days. However, it was followed by the annual SG team building, which was a great finish to our initiation.

SiteGround Launches An Enhanced Offer For The European Market

SiteGround web hosting company has recently enhanced its service in order to target better its European users. Last week the company introduced prices in EURO and British Pounds, additional free European domain names and more convenient access to phone support from the territory of the old continent. This is not the first step that SiteGround takes to get closer to markets outside the USA. Last year the company launched its first server location in Europe and a few months later one more in Asia. The special attention to its international customers is now extended with new enhancements targeting the European citizens.
