Team Building 2012 – another peak we’ve conquered together!

2,925 m /9,596 ft high

Having slept over the SiteGround team building that was held this weekend, I suddenly realized how symbolic the event was. It all started, when few of the key SiteGrounders decided that we should aim for the top of the highest mountain peak around (2,925m / 9,596ft high). At the hiking day the weather was far from friendly with strong chilly wind and occasional gusts of rain. At first many people were skeptical about reaching the top, as the track itself was not an easy one. However, at each obstacle there were two forces that helped us move further up: first, the contagious enthusiasm of the people ahead of you and second, the reassuring support from the people next to you.

SiteGround new Affiliate Program – did we sell our souls?

The standard web hosting affiliate market was a place we had been reluctant to go to. It somehow seemed wrong to us to pay more than a whole year of income for a sale generated by someone, who chooses which hosting services to recommend not based on personal experience but only based on the commission rates offered. And now here we are: launching a new affiliate program that is extremely competitive with commission rates among the highest and withhold periods among the shortest in the industry (see affiliate program comparisson PDF).

The SiteGround WordCamp San Francisco Experience

As you should already know, this year we’ve been actively supporting the Open Source communities by sponsoring and attending different community events like JoomlaDays and WordCamps all over the world. Last week, few SiteGround pals and me embarked on a journey to fly us to the beautiful San Francisco for the biggest WordPress community event – WordCamp San Francisco. Brian says…. or what did we learn from Mr. Teeman – one of the Joomla founders

The SiteGrounders with Brian TeemanOnly few days after we moved to the new office we were happy to welcome our first very special guest: Brian Teeman. He is one of the Joomla founders and an amazingly interesting person to listen and talk to. He spent two days with the SiteGround team sharing with us his love for Joomla, his viewpoint what a good customer service is and his great sense of humor. It is just impossible to tell you everything we learned from him during the multiple sessions he held for our team in a single blog post, but I just need to share few of the things my fellow SiteGrounders pointed out as memorable:

SiteGround HQ – bigger and more inspiring than ever!

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything in the blog, actually 4 months… and oh my, those were some busy 4 months. But today I want to share the excitement of the successful completion of one of the big projects that kept me occupied recently – the move of the SiteGround HQ to a new office space. A little less than a year after we moved our customer service office, SiteGround HQ now has a new home too. And this is not just a new building – it is a place that has been created to open new opportunities and to inspire the creativity of our team even further. Below you can see some pictures and read how I envision the new office will help us work better!

We are already in Singapore!

Asia & Australia“Hey Lily, we’ve moved to Singapore!” I got this message few days ago on FaceBook from one of my college mates, who had just left Washington DC for a fresh start in Asia. Knowing what we were working on the last few weeks, I was tempted to answer: “We are already there too!”. I just imagined how she would read my reply several times, trying to figure out what was going on, knowing me as a person, who had never considered a relocation. The truth is that I haven’t packed for a new home, as I really love mine. However, SiteGround has added a new data center location and we now have servers in Singapore too!
