Our Dedicated Servers just got more awesome!

postheader

As far as the hardware is concerned, our dedicated offer has always been awesome. However, during the last few years we have added so many innovations to our shared hosting that our dedicated servers started to lag behind a little. Some of the options you loved so much, like the data center choice, the Joomla and WordPress Autoupdaters, the CDN service, etc.,  were not available for our dedicated server users.  The good news is that this is no longer  the case!  From now on all innovations implemented by SiteGround will be available for our dedicated server users too.

WP-CLI now coming preinstalled on all SiteGround Servers!

WP-Cli

We’re excited to announce that a new WordPress tool has been added to our servers. WordPress users who love command line will be happy to find WP-CLI pre-installed on all SiteGround accounts.

WP-CLI allows you to do multiple things like updating your WordPress, installing themes and plugins, setting up multiple sites, etc., and all that without using a web browser. To take advantage of the tool you don’t need to install anything yourself. Simply login to your account via SSH, navigate to the folder of your WordPress installation and start typing management commands – it’s that simple!

To learn how to use WP-CLI you can refer to our WP-CLI tutorial. Additionally, you can find a full list of WP-CLI commands on their official website.

SSH can be easily enabled for all SiteGround accounts through your cPanel or Site Tools account. For detailed instructions check our tutorial for  SSH on Site Tools.

Lily on the Joomlabe.at Podcast – the new SiteGround.com behind the scenes

Our rebranded website got the grounds moving and already generated quite a lot of traction and positive feedback. Thank you all! It’s reported that it even made some people cry. 🙂

Peter Bui, host of the super cool Joomlabe.at podcast, didn’t cry, but got super excited about the redesign and invited us again to share some insights behind the redesign. Lily – our very own marketing master and visionary of the rebranding project reveals why we chose the handcrafted idea and leaves some pretty cool marketing and rebranding takeaways. Check out the episode and make sure to listen to the very end – you might win some SG swag too!

Do you think we did good communicating the handcrafted philosophy? Throw your comments below.

SiteGround Launches a New Brand Identity and a New Website

SiteGround web hosting company has reinvented its brand identity and launched a complete redesign of its website, company logo, and hosting plans structure in line with the new brand concept.  The brand message communicates now more clearly that SiteGround delivers a high-quality, superior service thanks to its “handcraft” approach to hosting as opposed to the “mass-production” one chosen by the majority of web hosts.

Our new videos reveal the handmade magic!

We are in a full-blown testing mode in the office. Our new website will be here very, very soon. While waiting, take a look at the three videos that will be part of the new SiteGround home page. They will explain a lot about SiteGround approach to web hosting and how we make your website safer, faster and better supported. But what is even more important, they will make you feel the real magic of our handmade philosophy.

The making of…

Our main challenge with the new website was to tell some highly technological stories in an understandable and human way. Using videos seemed a logical choice, as it would allow us to add action and emotion and thus make the visitors’ perception easier. The temptation to go for an easy and fast computer-generated animation was huge. But when the advertising agency offered to make a series of stop-motion movies instead, with all characters made of paper, I just felt the click. It was such a great match with the handmade philosophy that inspired the whole site re-design.

At that point I didn’t know that filming each of the three 1-minute long movies will take from 12 to 16 hours non-stop shootage, neither that I will have to craft some of the characters from postit notes on the spot, nor that the whole thing will be so much fun! Now that the SiteGround stop-motion movie-making adventure is over it is time to reveal the end-result to the world. Hope you like them as much as we do!

SiteGround Staging – Don’t be a cowboy coder!

UPDATE: The staging feature is available on our GoGeek Shared Hosting plan, which was previously called Semi-dedicated Hosting.

Ever heard of „cowboy coding“? More or less, we’ve all done it – no time for planning, let alone test website changes, each new upload messing up your CSS, installing an incompatible plugin, doing everything „live“ and visible immediately for all your website visitors to see. After all this, you end up hoping you had a backup.
