It’s been a while since I’ve written anything in the blog, actually 4 months… and oh my, those were some busy 4 months. But today I want to share the excitement of the successful completion of one of the big projects that kept me occupied recently – the move of the SiteGround HQ to a new office space. A little less than a year after we moved our customer service office, SiteGround HQ now has a new home too. And this is not just a new building – it is a place that has been created to open new opportunities and to inspire the creativity of our team even further. Below you can see some pictures and read how I envision the new office will help us work better!
SiteGround takes Manhattan – BlogWorld and WordCamp NYC Recap
The SiteGround events team is back after ten busy days in the city that never sleeps, two major events and loads of good time and Starbucks lattes. For the last two weeks we attended two major blog related events, talked a lot first about blogging in general and than about doing it with WordPress and got to know many inspiring new people.

J And Beyond: taking part in the most important Joomla! community gathering
The SiteGround conferences journey continues in full swing and after CMS Expo, we headed to Germany to attend J And Beyond. You would wonder what’s so special about this one – yet another conference that SiteGround sponsors, attends and then writes about in this blog. Well, for anyone who uses Joomla and cares about its future, J and Beyond is by far the most important event of the year for the community. As we dearly care about Joomla, given that we host more than 80,000 customers who use that CMS, we couldn’t really miss that event.

CMS Expo adventure: super heroes, thunderstorms and more!
Just as you may know, SiteGround super heroic team headed for Chicago last week to attend the CMS Expo – the biggest conference for content management systems. Our challenge was to redefine what web hosting is and to prove that shared hosting, when done right, can be a great option for the CMS users. Nothing could stop us to accomplish this mission even the raging nature itself. 🙂

Joomla!Days Netherlands – an event to remember!
We just came back from The Dutch Joomla!Days held this past weekend in Zeist, Netherlands. If you missed our previous post, we were the main sponsor of the event and it was the first Joomla! conference that we attended in person (though we have already sponsored few others). In a nutshell – the conference was absolutely great and I wanted to share our experience with all of you!
The location
The two-day conference was held in Woudschoten Hotel & Conferentiecentrum in Zeist. Zeist is a small town near Utrecht, but incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is actually located out of the town in the very tranquil and picturesque forest and you could occasionally see a rabbit running near your feet or a peacock stretching its impressive tail and walking around the hotel area covered with fresh green grass – we totally felt like Alice in Wonderland! The other good thing about the location was that all attendees, speakers and sponsors spent the weekend together which was very good for networking and socializing too! Hat tip to the organizers for picking up this location and for doing a brilliant job in organizing the event!

Last week we announced the launch of our first server in the Netherlands, and this week we ourselves are heading to this amazing country to attend a very special event: Joomla!Days Netherlands, 2012. We are excited about the opportunity to meet in person the Dutch Joomla fans and to offer them our Joomla hosting services on servers located in their own country! And we are even more thrilled by the opportunity to share the Joomla hosting lessons we have learned with the community built around this amazing software.
So save these dates: the 21st and 22nd of April in Zeist, Netherlands.

SiteGround turns 8 Years in Web Hosting!
This week we celebrate our 8th year in business! When we look back after 8 years in the industry, we are so proud to say that not only most of our employees but a lot of our clients as well have been with us from the very beginning.
We started in 2004 with very little experience, but multiple times as much enthusiasm. We were a group of tech geek friends committed to learn and improve – and so we did. We very soon managed to make a name for ourselves as a small web hosting company with great potential. Our investment in skills and people in the form of multiple technical and management trainings paid off pretty soon. In short time we had everything we believed a good web hosting company should offer – fast and reliable hosting infrastructure, a variety of feature-rich hosting plans to fit the needs of any type of website, and first-class customer service ranging from our sales representatives to server administrators and technical support experts.
SiteGround Went Skiing
To be a part of the big SiteGround family is not only a constant challenge but also a great privilege. The energy and enthusiasm that we put in our every-day work is being ceaselessly revived by the numerous events and vacations that we take part in. Several months ago we were surprised with another such news – an upcoming ski vacation that will allow SiteGround winter sport lovers to spend some time together in the mountains.
[UPDATED: Winners announced] FREE tickets for Joomla! and WordPress conferences in March
Sadly enough though, WordCamp Slovakia did not sound as much tempting to our customers from Slovakia and so far no one has claimed a free ticket for this event. You still have time, WordCamp Slovakia is this Saturday – March 17, and we still have the free tickets. If anyone is interested in attending – just leave a comment below. It is definitely going to be a worthy experience and you’ll be a proud visitor of the first ever WordCamp event in Slovakia.
And now – here are the lucky ones who are going to attend the other two events for free and will receive a special SiteGround t-shirt:
WordCamp San Diego – March 24-25, 2012
Eric Ramos
Danny Aguilar
Joomla!Day New England – March 31, 2012, Brattleboro, Vermont
Susan Thomas
Henry Rotzal
Helena Anderson
Andy Grant
Lori Grant
John Saltarelli
Dan Mooney
William Case
We hope they all have great time there! And finally – a personal message to the lucky winners: stay alert in San Diego and Brattleboro as we have sent a few more special gifts and giveaways at both events!
Just as we promised, we continue our initiative for sponsoring and giving away free tickets for Open Source community organized events. This initiative started last December when we had few free WordCamp tickets to give away and thought “why not give them to our customers, now that we can’t personally attend”. Initially, this wasn’t meant to become an ongoing project, but we did receive some great feedback from the people who attended the past events and no longer doubted if we should continue this. We learned that these events are a great opportunity for everyone, no matter how advanced user he/she is, to learn, network and gather new ideas and knowledge for the development of their own websites. And if there’s one thing we strongly believe in, it is that we should help our customers along every step of the way: from a quick sign up process, through an easy and straightforward web site build up, to future growth and development of their online presence. And what better opportunity to get new knowledge, inspiration and ideas than attending such events? On top of it – for free! Meet Megan Valentine: “In SiteGround things get fixed in 10 minutes instead of taking 5 phone calls over 3 days!”
Megan is one of the people we often see mentioning SiteGround in Twitter. That is how she got this “word of mouth hero” t-shirt 🙂 She is a professional web designer with substantial experience with Joomla and we thank her for all the good feelings she has shared.
