If you are a SiteGround client and you have been one for more than a couple of years, you probably have noticed that we tend to change our hardware quite often. This has been mine and SiteGrounds’ philosophy for quite some time now.

Most hosts will brag about high-tech brand new hardware configurations on their websites but what remains hidden is that they use this hardware only for the new servers they set up. Usually, they won’t replace a working machine for any reason. In fact they will keep it (even if 5 years old) until it’s dead broken and they are forced to restore all affected websites from a backup. This means that even if you get a good hardware initially, as time goes by you will be stuck with it and you will get slower and crappier service until your old server crashes and you are “lucky” to be moved to the new hardware.

As you may already know, in SiteGround we’ve always been in pursuit of server tweaks, hacks and optimizations with one primary goal – deliver the fastest possible (and secure at the same time) website loading speed. We know how important it is for a website to load fast,  how frustrating it is having to wait for 15 seconds just to see a header banner image and then 10 more seconds to load the body of the website. Since then, all our shared and semi-dedicated servers run and operate with 1H Software and many clients have praised us about the speed with which their websites are delivered.

Yet, we know we could do even more. So, our admin team started the year 2012 with one goal in mind – creating the fastest shared web hosting platform out there. And I think we’re almost there. When I say SPAM, you will most probably think of the annoying unwanted emails INCOMING to your own Inbox, and this is definitely one of the SPAM aspects we have been fighting for a long time and which I am proud we have already minimized very successfully. However, in this post I would like to address another aspect – the OUTGOING SPAM: how it affects you and what is the newest solution we have applied to it.

Since I started dealing with hosting (and probably many years before that), outgoing SPAM has been one of the most troublesome aspects for a hosting company. Fantastico has been on our servers for a long time now, and it is quite possible that you know and like the smiley face in your cPanel, and have used it to install or update a software on your hosting account. However, we have started to get the impression that the guys behind the auto-installer have become a little spoiled by the fact that many people use Fantastico just because it is integrated in the cPanel and are sometimes a little negligent about the quality of their service.
